1960's Barbie and Ken Little Theater

I came across this video on YouTube and couldn't resist posting it. My sister and I use to have this Little Theater set when we were young. I think it was one of our favorite Barbie toys and we played with it for hours. I still have some of the costumes but they are packed away right now. One day soon I will have to get them out and play with them again. And of course share them with you.

Happy Easter

Here comes the Easter Bunny with all of her baby bunnies in this cute candy dish. This was left in the last house I lived in when we were in Florida. Underneath it is marked FITZ And FLOYD, INC. Copywrite MCMLXXIX (1979) FF then there is a paper label that says Handpainted, Japan, FF. I have been using it for the last several years for my secret Easter candy stash.

Gold and Roses Vintage Tea Cup and Saucer

This is another vintage tea cup and saucer in my collection. I bought this in 1986 from an antique dealer in Florida. The markings on the bottom is Queen Anne English bone china. I have always thought it was so pretty.

Things That Are Me - Vintage Blue and Gold Tea Cup and Saucer

Tea cups are one of my favorite collectibles and this pretty Vintage cobalt blue and gold set belonged to my husband's Grandnana in Tennessee. There is no pottery mark on the bottom so I have no idea who it was made by. I don't really know the story behind it either, but I managed to save it along with some other treasures from the estate sale she was having.

Circa 1916 Kid Leather Wedding Shoes

I found these shoes in an antique shop in Florida about 20 years ago. The shopkeeper told me they were from an estate sale and that they were worn for a wedding. At that time I was really into old wedding photos and wanted them for my collection. I had asked her if she had the wedding dress that went with them. She informed me that she did, but that she could not sell it yet. I left her my name and number for her to call when she was ready to sell.

She never called so I went to her shop to see if the dress was for sale. The shopkeeper told me she could not sell it because the owner of the dress was in a nursing home and that the family that sold it at the estate sale now wanted it back but did not want to refund her for what she had paid. I then asked if they were wanting the shoes and she said she did not know. I would have been happy to return them. She told me to wait and she would let me know. I don't think she wanted to give me my money back if she wasn't going to get reimbursed. I told her to call me, but she never did.

So I do not know what happened to the dress and I was never asked to return the shoes. I felt bad and wondered what kind of family takes someones personal things and just sells them off before they are even gone. I just hope my family will be kinder and realize that there are certain things that mean a lot to me. Especially my wedding dress!

Things That Are Me - Vintage Pearl and Rhinestone Necklace

I don't really remember where I picked up this pretty necklace, but I have had it probably since the late 1980's. More than likely I found it in a thrift store or at a flea market stand. If I were to guess I would say it is from the 1950's. My husband's sister wore this piece at her wedding for something borrowed and something old. The center of the flowers are rhinestones surrounded by pearls for the petals. Unfortunately it is not real gold, but it is still beautiful to me.

Things That Are Me -Vintage Green Glass

This green glass belonged to my Mother and has been in my life for as long as I can remember. There use to be a set of four and they were each different colors. Unfortunately over time the others were broken. I do believe that the glass breaking incidents happened at different times, but all involved my brothers who loved to horse around. I think it was probably during one of their infamous sock fights. I was a lot younger than they were, but I do remember that they use to roll their socks up and throw them at each other. I also remember my mother coming home from work and finding her broken treasures. She always looked very disappointed but she would only scold my brothers. I am sure that the look on her face was probably punishment enough.

Things That Are Me - Old Rolling Pins

These rolling pins are part of my family heirloom collection. The one on top was my maternal Grandmother's and from what I can remember she made the best blackberry cobbler. The rolling pin on the bottom belonged to my paternal great grandmother. It was handmade by my great grandfather and is one piece of solid wood. The wall mount for it was later made by my grandfather so it could be displayed. I never knew my great grandmother since I was 4 or 5 years old when she passed, but I imagine she made some killer pies with that rolling pin.

Things That Are Me - Vintage Coca Cola Tray

This is a vintage Coca Cola Tray that my mother found in a Goodwill store in Ohio and paid 10 cents for back in the late 1960's. I looked around on the Internet today to find out about the exact date or value on this tray. I believe it to be around the 1920's and have seen this design for oval tip trays, but not the full rectangle shaped one that I have. So if anyone out there knows more information on this tray, leave me a comment.
